Windsor Corporate Challenge Raises Over 1-Million-Dollars  For Local Charities in Windsor-Essex County

Windsor, ON – June 18th, 2019 – Windsor, ON – June 15th, 2019 – – On Saturday, June 15th, 2019, over 80 local companies with more than 1,300 team members and volunteers attended the Eighth Annual Windsor Corporate Challenge. These coworkers not only, work together every weekday, but this past weekend they challenged one another to act as one, promoting togetherness, and removing any workplace barriers!

This year the Windsor Corporate Challenge is proud to announce we raised $239,849.63 to support the Fight Like Mason Foundation! The Fight Like Mason Foundation will be allocating these funds towards their mission to improve treatment, care, quality of life, and awareness of patients diagnosed with childhood rhabdomyosarcoma and other childhood cancers. Since its inception, the Windsor Corporate Challenge is thrilled to announce that over $1,144,849.00 raised for Windsor-based charities with a focus on children, women, and families.

“When I first founded Windsor Corporate Challenge, I set a personal goal to raise 1 Million-dollars for our community, and with the help of our amazing teams, we surpassed this goal” says Meighen Nehme, Founder of Windsor Corporate Challenge and President and C.E.O. of The Job Shoppe.

The Windsor Corporate Challenge provides local businesses with the most cost-effective team-building day for their employees. The day’s agenda consists of a variety of activities and challenges of all levels, so everyone can partake in the fun! Teams are comprised of 10 to 12 members who compete against other local businesses for top bragging rights. This event is a fantastic way for employees to get to know one another, as well as provide a spirited forum for a variety of companies in Windsor-Essex County to network.

“The Windsor Corporate Challenge continues to grow in popularity every year and we are proud to host one of the largest volunteer-based local team building event in Windsor-Essex County,” says Nehme. “These coworkers not only, worked together every weekday, but this past weekend they challenged one another to act as one, promoting togetherness, and removing any workplace barriers! We have had nothing but positive feedback from our teams and participants.”

While Team D’Alimonte from Royal LePage was the overall winner of the 2019 Windsor Corporate Challenge, many other teams proved themselves in other areas.

The top fundraising team this year was the General Hospitality team from Caesars Windsor with $13,989.00 raised. Collectively, Caesar Windsor raised $16,343 between their four teams. Additional top fundraising teams included Stigma Smashers from Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital with 8,760.00 raised, FBC Wombmates from Windsor Regional Hospital with 8,269.75 raised. Collectively, Windsor Regional Hospital raised $16,102.41 between their three teams. BMO Wealth Warriors from BMO Nesbitt Burns with $6,965.00 respectfully.

The top individual fundraisers included Audrey from Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital Stigma Smashers with $3,681.00,

Jessica P. from Unifor Local 200, Ford Essex Plant with $3,095.00, Mark Lombardi from Lombardi’s Classic Barber Shop with $2,000.00 and Andrea B. from Caesars Windsor General Hospitality with $2,000.00.

Additionally, the WFCU Game of Loans was the winners of the Team Spirit Award and Wintre M. was the MVV – Most Valuable Volunteer.

We are so proud to announce that 146 donations were made in support of Windsor Corporate Challenge and the Fight Like Mason Foundation this year! Thank you to all the teams that went out and gave blood — every gift as the potential to save up to 3 lives. Congratulations to The Plasman Group (Bam Bandits) who lead the pack with 23 donations.

I know that Mason is giving everyone two big thumbs up.”

Agnes C. was the lucky winner of a 2019 Sea-Doo Spark and Trailer – ticket number 421! The Summer Fun Giveaway was made possible because of the partnership with Delta Power Equipment and The Job Shoppe.
